During the operation of rotary drilling rigs, the emergence of groundwater often brings many challenges to the project. Improper handling may lead to problems such as hole wall collapse and decline in pile quality. Mastering scientific and effective response methods is the key to ensuring the smooth progress of construction. Here are six practical measures to deal with groundwater problems during the operation of rotary drilling rigs.

1. Advance investigation and assessment: Conduct a detailed geological investigation before construction to clarify the groundwater level, flow direction and aquifer characteristics. Based on this, formulate a targeted construction plan to predict risks in advance.

2. Set up dewatering Wells for drainage: Dewatering Wells are arranged around the construction area. Water is continuously pumped by pumps to lower the groundwater level, creating a dry environment for drilling operations and reducing the impact of groundwater.

3. Use mud for wall protection: Prepare mud with appropriate performance, increase the specific gravity and viscosity of the mud, enhance the wall protection effect, prevent the collapse of the hole wall caused by groundwater, and maintain the stability of the hole wall.

4. Use steel casing for follow-up: According to the groundwater conditions, the steel casing is lowered to a stable stratum to isolate the groundwater, providing protection for the borehole and facilitating the control of the borehole's verticality at the same time.

5. Optimize drilling technology: Appropriately reduce the drilling speed to minimize disturbance to the hole wall, prevent groundwater from flowing in due to excessive drilling, and ensure the quality of the hole formation.

6. Strengthen drainage facilities: A complete drainage system should be set up at the construction site to promptly drain the groundwater extracted and the mud water generated during the drilling process, preventing water accumulation on the site from affecting the construction.

Conclusion: In the face of groundwater problems during the construction of rotary drilling rigs, measures need to be taken comprehensively from the initial investigation to the construction process. Through the coordinated effect of multiple measures such as reasonable drainage, strengthened wall protection, and optimized processes, not only can the safe and orderly progress of construction be guaranteed, but also the quality and stability of pile foundation projects can be ensured.
