The engine of a rotary drilling rig, as the core power source of the equipment, its performance directly affects the construction efficiency and the service life of the equipment. Therefore, it is of vital importance to take good protective measures. The following are six key protective measures:
1. Regularly replace the "three filters" : Replace the air filter, oil filter and fuel filter in a timely manner to prevent impurities from entering the engine. It is recommended to replace them every 500 hours or as per the manual cycle to ensure the cleanliness of the intake and fuel supply systems.
2. Strictly control the quality of engine oil: Use engine oil that meets the manufacturer's specifications (such as API CI-4 grade), regularly check the oil level and keep it at the center line of the scale to avoid serious faults such as cylinder pulling and shaft seizing caused by deteriorated or missing engine oil.
3. Pay attention to the maintenance of the cooling system: Regularly clean the radiator and water tank, check the freezing point and level of the coolant (it is recommended to replace it every two years), prevent the engine from overheating or the cooling pipes from rusting, and ensure stable heat dissipation efficiency.
4. Standardize cold start and hot start operations: Preheat the engine oil before starting in a low-temperature environment, and let the engine idle for 3 to 5 minutes after starting before loading. Idle for 2 minutes before the operation is completed to cool down and avoid sudden shutdown in high-temperature conditions.
5. Strengthen fuel management: Use clean and qualified fuel (avoid excessive sulfur content), regularly drain the water and impurities at the bottom of the fuel tank, and in cold regions, choose low freezing point diesel to prevent the fuel line from freezing or the nozzle from clogging.
6. Conduct daily inspections and keep records: Check the engine every day for any abnormal noises, oil leaks, or unusual vibrations. Record the working hours and potential faults. Stop the machine promptly for inspection upon discovering any issues to prevent minor malfunctions from escalating into major damages.
Conclusion: The protection of the engine should be approached from multiple dimensions such as "oil, filtration, cooling, combustion, operation, and inspection". Only by strictly following the maintenance cycle and standardized operation can mechanical wear be reduced, the continuous and efficient operation of the rotary drilling rig be guaranteed, and the risk of sudden failure be lowered.
